Moline chosen for new LEED leadership cohort

Moline is among 17 communities nationwide selected for the U.S. Green Building Council‘s (USGBC) 2026 LEED for Cities Local Government Leadership Cohort. The program represents about 2.5 million residents.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognized certification program that helps local governments measure and improve sustainability, resilience and quality of life. Moline will receive training, technical assistance, online tools and direct support from USGBC staff through the cohort, along with an $8,000 LEED for Cities certification fee and a Silver-level USGBC membership.
The program will help Moline track progress, set sustainability goals and identify opportunities for improvement in areas like energy, transportation, water, public health, green spaces, economic prosperity and overall quality of life. The city already has plans underway, including the city’s Environmental Resiliency Plan and developing a new Comprehensive Plan, the first update from the city since 2001.
“We’re excited to be part of this national cohort,” said Dawn Temple, Grant Coordinator and Management Analyst for the City of Moline. “Moline already has some important work underway, including our Environmental Resiliency Plan and Comprehensive Plan update. This gives us another way to build on that work, learn from communities across the country and make sure we’re planning for Moline’s future in the best way possible. Even better, the training, technical assistance and certification support are all provided at no cost to the city.”

Still missing: The 1974 disappearance of Lisa Joy White in Vernon, Connecticut
Lisa Joy White has been missing from Vernon, Connecticut (Tolland County), since November 1, 1974, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Her photo above (right) is an age-progressed likeness of how she might have appeared at 56 years, though she would now be 65.

The 1994 unsolved disappearance of infant Kelsi Krum and her mother in Arcadia, Florida
Kelsi Jordan Krum has been missing from Arcadia, Florida (DeSoto County), since August 11, 1994, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Her mother, Kelli Jo Krum (pictured below), also disappeared. Kelsi would now be 32 years old, and her mother would be 53.
