(NewsNation) — A New Jersey-based company is voluntarily recalling more than 3,600 vacuum cleaners because the lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, federal regulators announced.

The recall applies to two models of Rowenta’s cordless vacuums, including the X-Force Flex 14.60 Animal (model number RH99A2U1) and the X-Force Flex 15.60 Animal (model number RH99F2U1), according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

They were sold between July 2023 and January 2026 for $250 to $550 at Williams-Sonoma and Crate & Barrel stores, and online at Rowenta.com, Shopify.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com.

“The recalled lithium-ion battery in the vacuum cleaner can overheat and ignite, posing a risk of serious injury from fire and burn hazards,” CPSC warned. “The batteries were sold separately or with the vacuum cleaners.”

Officials said Rowenta has received over 65 reports worldwide of the lithium-ion batteries overheating or failing to charge.

Consumers are advised to stop using the vacuum immediately and remove the battery from its handle. Visit the company’s website for instructions on how to dispose of the product and to register for the recall.
