Rock Island road work leads to traffic restriction
By Sharon Wren,
2026-07-15Drivers in Rock Island will find a temporary traffic restriction in place on Friday and Saturday.
A news release from the city said there will be a temporary traffic restriction at the intersection of 24th Street and 18th Avenue on Thursday, July 16 through Saturday, July 18. A “No Right Turn” restriction will be in place for motorists heading onto 18th Avenue from 24th Street. The intersection will remain open and traffic will continue to move through the area, but vehicles will not be permitted to make the right turn from 24th Street onto 18th Avenue.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible, follow posted signage and be cautious while navigating the temporary traffic restriction. The restriction is expected to be lifted after scheduled work is completed on Saturday, July 18.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
