UnityPoint Health – Trinity earns national recognition for stroke care

UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island received the Get With The Guidelines – Stroke
Silver Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Get With The Guidelines – Stroke helps hospitals apply the latest research and evidence-based practices from the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association to patient care and education.
Participating hospitals demonstrate a commitment to improving patient outcomes, reducing disability and supporting recovery both in the hospital and after discharge. This is the ninth year Trinity Bettendorf has received a stroke-care award and the third year for Trinity Muscatine. In addition, this marks the first year Trinity Rock Island was eligible for stroke-care recognition by the American Heart Association.
“Earning this recognition year after year reflects the consistent, high-quality stroke care our teams provide every day,” says Kenzie Rollinger, BSN, RN, stroke and sepsis coordinator. “When a stroke happens, every second matters. This recognition reinforces the importance of
knowing where to go for expert stroke care when time is critical.”
“A stroke can change a person’s life in an instant, which is why timely treatment is so important,”
says Mohammad Sajed, MD, medical director of stroke and the neurohospitalist program at
UnityPoint Health – Trinity. “This recognition means our teams are consistently using the latest
evidence-based practices to help patients recover faster, reduce the long-term risk of disability
and achieve the best possible quality of life after a stroke. We are proud to provide that level of
care for the communities we serve.”
Trinity Bettendorf, Trinity Muscatine and Trinity Rock Island are three of 10 UnityPoint Health
hospitals to be nationally recognized.
About strokes
Stroke is a leading cause of death and long-term disability in the United States. A stroke occurs
when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or
bursts. When that happens, part of the brain cannot get the blood and oxygen it needs, so brain
cells die. Early stroke detection and treatment are key to improving survival, minimizing disability and accelerating recovery times.
Stroke is a medical emergency. Recognizing symptoms and seeking immediate treatment can
significantly improve outcomes. The American Stroke Association recommends remembering
the acronym FAST – if you notice Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, it’s Time to

Noah Henry Richard has been missing from Redmond, Washington, since December 14, 2023, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Noah, pictured above, was two when he went missing, but he would now be five years old. His brother, Oliver Richard (pictured below), was only seven months old when he also went missing on the same date. Oliver would now be three.
