Trinity Muscatine Public Health hosting back to school clinic

Trinity Muscatine Public Health is helping area families get ready for a new school year.
The fifth annual Back-to-School Health Clinic is a convenient, one-stop opportunity to obtain important health screenings. Families in Muscatine and surrounding areas can attend the clinic, hosted by Trinity Muscatine Public Health, on Thursday, August 6, from 12 – 6:30 p.m. at McKinley Elementary School, 621 Kindler Avenue.
Available services include:
- Dental screenings
- Topical fluoride application
- Vision screenings
- Lead testing
- Developmental screenings (ages 0 to 5)
Staff will be on-site to answer questions about immunizations, insurance and other resources. Community partners will also be on hand with information about local programming and support services.
“This event is a great opportunity for families to access important health services in one convenient location before the school year begins,” said Jen Craft, director of Trinity Muscatine Public Health. “The clinic brings together healthcare providers, educators and community organizations to make essential health services more accessible for families. By working together, we can help children start the school year healthy, supported and ready to succeed.”

Shultz’s Guest House, a 501c3 dog rescue shelter in Dedham, Massachusetts, is asking the community to take a fresh look at Joey, a small senior dog who, despite a bright spirit and a big heart for people, is still waiting for the home everyone assumed would come quickly. The rescue recently shared Joey’s story: “Joey wants to remind you that age is just a number. Even though he’s well into his golden years, Joey isn’t slowing down.” After surviving “a hoarding situation and finally getting the fresh start he deserved,” Joey has thrown himself into what matters most to him now, connection, spending his days “hopping from one lap to the next” as if to make up for lost time.
