Rock Island Police investigating vape shop robbery

Rock Island Police are investigating a reported armed robbery that took place last night.

A news release from the Rock Island Police Department said officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Essentials Vape and Smoke Shop, 3015 18th Avenue, on July 29 at about 11:02 p.m. They learned that a Black man whose face was partially concealed entered the store armed with a handgun. The armed suspect allegedly demanded currency from the register and the employee complied. The suspect left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency.

A Rock Island County Sheriff’s Deputy K-9 handler responded to the scene to attempt a K-9 track for the suspect but was unsuccessful. There were no reports of injuries or property damage in connection with the incident.

The Rock Island Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Rock Island Police Department at (309) 732-2677 or Crime Stoppers at (309) 762-9500 or use the P3 Tips app.
