Hear professional baseball scouting stories in Bishop Hill

Professional baseball fans can hear the behind-the-scenes stories of professional baseball scouting in Bishop Hill.

Author Tim Pletkovich will present “Confessions of a Baseball Scout”on Saturday, August 15 at 1 p.m. at the Steeple Building Museum in Bishop Hill. The program is free and open to the public. The Steeple Building is located at 103 North Bishop Hill Street.

Pletkovich began evaluating amateur free agents for the Philadelphia Phillies when he was 14 years old. He joined the Chicago Cubs organization when he was 21 and became the youngest paid scout in Major League Baseball at the time. He will share personal anecdotes and insights from his time scouting for the Cubs in the 1980s during the program, offering a rare look into the world of professional baseball talent evaluation.
