Sugar Grove man accused of DUI in crash that killed 4-year-old, 2 adults

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. — A Sugar Grove man was allegedly driving intoxicated before causing a head-on crash that claimed the lives of a 4-year-old girl and two adults Friday night, according to police.
Carson Rehkopf, 22, is facing six counts of aggravated DUI involving death, two counts of aggravated DUI involving great bodily harm and multiple traffic offenses.
He was charged on Sunday, according to Illinois State Police.
ISP responded to the area of Route 71 past Walker Road, south of Millbrook, at around 9:15 p.m. on Friday.
Police allege that Rehkopf was driving under the influence southbound on Route 71 and entered northbound lanes in an attempt to pass vehicles.
3 killed, including 4-year-old girl, in Kendall County crashHe struck an SUV head-on, which caused a four-vehicle crash. A passenger from the SUV, Amy Witter, 38, of Des Moines, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three others, including a 4-year-old girl, were transported to the hospital. The girl and a man, James Witter, 61, also of Des Moines, died at the hospital.
Rehkopf was injured in the crash. He remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail.

Denver drug users can have their substances analyzed before using them
The Harm Reduction Action Center announced in its July newsletter Monday that it now offers on-site, rapid drug testing so drug users know exactly what they’re ingesting.
