New app answers Moline recycling questions

Moline has a new way to let residents recycle correctly.

The city has unveiled its Recycle Coach app, which provides information on local disposal for thousands of household items. The app is free to use and is available in the Apple App Store or Google Play. Residents can also access the app online.

“Recycling can be confusing. People don’t always know what’s recyclable or when their pickup is. This app puts all of that in one place, right on your phone,” said Denver Schmitt, Director of Public Works.

Recycle Coach helps residents:

Set up a custom curbside collection and events calendar
Get collection reminders and real-time updates on service disruptions
Search “What Goes Where?” for local disposal information and collection requirements for common and uncommon items
Take the weekly “We Wanted to Know” quiz for recycling tips
Report problems like missed collections using a geolocation-based reporting tool

“The more residents know, the better they recycle. That’s good for the environment and good for the city,” said Schmitt.
