Now, she wants to pay that back. Harrison hopes Wildflowers and Wings can help create a path out for drug addicts seeking help.</p><p>“Now that our life is stable and we have a home and beautiful little four-year-old boy, I’m ready to do something back,” said Harrison. “For other women. I want to help other women.”</p><p>The sober-living center would provide support and give addicts a space away from temptation.</p><p>“I would like for these women to be able to return from the hospital and come back with these babies, remain on site with their babies in a sober living facility and enter into a long-term program where they’re able to have a long-term plan for success,” Harrison said of her plans.</p><p>Currently, Harrison is <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/building-a-safe-haven-for-mothers-and-babies-in-recovery/cl/s?attribution_id=sl:30279ecd-22c1-49f8-b17e-b733450e1468&amp;lang=en_US&amp;ts=1786123016&amp;utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&amp;utm_content=amp30-treatment-8&amp;utm_medium=customer&amp;utm_source=copy_link" rel="nofollow">raising money</a> to get Wildflowers and Wings classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. As the biological system continues to stabilize and gas‑handling systems (including the flare) come fully online, odors are expected to decrease significantly,” read the statement from Clinton. “Additional operational adjustments are being made to manage high‑strength industrial loads and reduce odor peaks during startup activities.”</p><p>Residents say they still notice the smell just over six months later. Crews attempted an offensive attack at that point. Because of the amount of fire, two other points of attack were initiated. </p><p>A ventilation hole was cut over the fire’s point of origin; which helped release heat and smoke in the building.</p><p>The initial response went through the Full Still response, which brought Dixon Rural Fire, Milledgeville Fire and Prophetstown Fire in, but had to be upgraded to portions of the Third Alarm. Additionally, Dixon City Fire, Advance Ambulance, Morrison Fire, Morrison EMS, Clinton Fire, and Erie Fire assisting.</p><p>The Salvation Army, NICOR, ComEd and 800-Boardup also assisted at the scene.</p><p>The cause of the fire appears to be issues with the compactor for cardboard, but it remains under investigation. There was significant fire and smoke damage to the building, as well as the ventilation holes needed for suppression or ventilation.</p><p>One firefighter was transported to CGH and released within a few hours. You don’t have to be the best player, an NHL player, and they can find a slot for you, and you can be competitive.”</p><p>The national summer tournament continues to pick up steam.</p><p>“We have teams coming down from Canada, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Chicago, Pittsburgh, all over the place,” said Sam Levesque, who helps run the event. “Our very first year we probably had about 30 teams and now we are at our max capacity for the weekend. We have 62 teams involved, and now when we open registration in June it fills up within minutes.”</p><p>While each team wants to win, the love of competition brings them together.</p><p>“It just warms my heart every single year because it just such a family atmosphere,” Levesque said.</p><p>“Honestly, they are my lifelong friends to this day – in my wedding, godchild to my kids. Hockey has brought everyone together,” Chmiel said.</p><p>The hope is that dekhockey can stretch to each corner of the world and make it onto the biggest stage of international sports: the Olympics.</p><p>“I think it would be a great sport because they are conditioned athletes, you can play anywhere in the world. Register <a href="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/mutt-strut-tickets-1992523713063?aff=oddtdtcreator" rel="nofollow">here</a>.</p><p>Chief Meteorologist Andy McCray from Our Quad Cities News will be the master of ceremonies.</p><p>Your registration includes an afternoon for the family including a casual half-mile dog walk, games, shopping, refreshments, giveaways, and the opportunity to meet fellow animal lovers while supporting the lifesaving work of the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.
