Season Championship night at Davenport Speedway will be this Friday, Aug. 14. Track champions will be crowned in six weekly classes, a news release says.

Many of the point battles remain close. Three of the six weekly classes have a point difference between first and second place in the single digits.  Here is what to look for, going into Friday night’s racing program.

The Outhouse/Storage to Go – IMCA Late Models will see a new track championship this season. Going into the point season finale, Logan Veloz leads Cruz Birkhofer and Nathan Balensiefen. Should Veloz win the title, it would be his second Davenport crown. Logan was the 2024 SportMod champion.

Spencer Diercks of Davenport, will likely win his second straight Midwest Recycler/Del’s Metal Co. IMCA Modified track championship. Diercks has a commanding point lead going into championship night. Brandon Durbin is a distant second in points with Matt Werner and Jace Eckrich close behind.

The battle for the Koehler Electric Street Stock track championship is tight. Jesse Owen leads Tony VonDresky by three points and Jake Lund by five. Owen already has one Street Stock title at Davenport. VonDresky has two. Jake Lund is looking for his first.

Ben Chapman is on the hunt for his fourth Fred’s Towing/Cantrell’s Towing/Quad City Towing IMCA SportMod championship at Davenport. Chapman currently leads Tyler Maschmann by 26 points. Ben’s previous titles came in 2019, 2021, and 2022.

Three drivers are racing for the championship in the D&K Home Products IMCA Stock Car division. Jacob Ellithorpe leads Kodey Miles by three points and Jordan Miles by five. Ellithorpe has the most wins with three, but has yet to run away with the points lead.

Carson Butt has a slim three-point lead over Karter Miles in the Wangelin’s Auto IMCA Hobby Stocks.  Randy LaMar is third in points. Karter Miles has won five features at Davenport this season. Carson Butt and Randy LaMar each have one win.

The complete point standings of all six Davenport Speedway weekly classes can be found here.

Post-season racing action at Davenport Speedway begins Saturday, Sept. 12 with the MVVRCA Vintage Hawkeye Futurity. For more information, visit here.
