Power restored at 3 Rock Island schools; classes resume Thursday

UPDATE: Classes will resume Thursday for the three Rock Island schools that lost power Wednesday.

“We are pleased to share that power has been restored to the affected schools,” the Rock Island-Milan School District said in a message to parents.

School was canceled early Wednesday morning after storms left Rock Island High School, Frances Willard Elementary and Rock Island Academy without power.

EARLIER UPDATE: There are no classes today for students at three schools in the Rock Island-Milan School District.

A notification from the district says there is no power at Rock Island Academy, Frances Willard Elementary and Rock Island High School.

“Scholars at these schools are excused from attendance today,” the notification said. The district will provide updates when available.
