UPDATE:
MidAmerican Energy has an update on power outages from today’s storms.

Crews are assessing damage and restoring electric service to customers who lost power this morning due to severe storms that brought down a large number of tree limbs, power lines and utility poles. At the height of the storm, 26,000 customers, mostly in Eastern Iowa and the Quad Cities, experienced an outage.

Additional line and tree crews have been dispatched to assist with repairs. As of 11 a.m., these areas are still being impacted:

Iowa City: At peak, there were over 2,800 customers affected and currently 829 customers are still without power. Service was restored to about 1,100 customers on the northeast side of Iowa City after crews removed trees off the circuit mainline. They are repairing a downed wire that is affecting 340 customers, which should be restored by early afternoon. Most remaining customers will have service restored by 6 p.m. and all by midnight.

Quad Cities, Iowa: At peak, there were over 10,300 customers affected and Davenport was the hardest hit area. Currently 6,756 customers are still without power. Several portions of circuits were restored after isolating damage, including trees and broken poles. Most customers will have service restored by midnight and all by Thursday at noon.

Quad Cities, Illinois: At peak, there were over 13,200 customers affected and 3,519 customers remain without service. Several circuits across the area have been restored. A tree was removed a tree from the circuit mainline and are finishing patrolling a circuit in Rock Island that is affected 963 customers. If crews find no additional damage, these customers should be restored by early afternoon. Most remaining customers will have service restored by midnight, and all by noon on Thursday.

EARLIER: This morning’s storm has led to multiple power outages in the Quad Cities.

MidAmerican Energy’s Outage Map says there are 25,956 customers currently without power. The Iowa Quad Cities has 10,305 customers without power and the Illinois side has 13,269 customers without power.
