The freshest grapes in the grocery store are going to be ones where the stem is still green and is flexible. As the grapes age, the stem will lose its color and turn dark brown or black and become rigid. While the grapes may look and taste great, they won't last very long at that point so if you do buy them, eat them up quickly.

A widening food recall connected to a multistate Salmonella outbreak now covers dips, salsas, guacamole and prepared meals sold by some of America's largest grocery chains. Taylor Fresh Foods announced the voluntary recall on Aug. 9 after learning that jalapeno supplier Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination. The affected jalapenos came from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as the likely source of an ongoing outbreak.
