Work on I-74, John Deere Road starts Aug. 24

10 hours agoSummer may be winding down but it’s still Road Construction Season in Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that work on the Interstate 74 and John Deere Road (Illinois 5) interchange in Moline will start on Monday, Aug. 24, weather permitting. The work zone is on I-74 from south of 27th Street to north of the Rock River and on John Deere Road between 16th and 38th streets. Click here for full details on the project.
The work will prepare both I-74 and John Deere Road for a reconstruction project on the interchange in 2027. Improvements include shoulder reconstruction, drainage work and installing temporary lighting and Intelligent Transportation Systems upgrades.

Irene Lenore LaRosa has been missing from Ellington, Connecticut (Tolland County), since March 1, 1971, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Her photo above appears to be one of a few available. Irene would now be 73 if alive. She was last seen near her home.

An Elderly Owner Had to Say Goodbye: Can You Be Junior Mint’s New Beginning?
Junior Mint is looking for a new home after being surrendered to Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts when “his elderly owner could no longer care for him,” the shelter said. The playful dog is 8 years old and is described as “a playful fellow,” and the shelter noted that while he is “a little overweight,” he still enjoys staying active and engaged with people and play.
