School board member surprised when Sudlow’s cafeteria is named after him

A Davenport School Board member got a surprise during Monday night's meeting.

The school board announced Sudlow Middle School's cafeteria will be named after Bruce Potts.
Potts was the school's principal until he retired and was later elected to the school board. Potts said he had no idea about it before the announcement.

Construction is underway on a new building to house Sudlow Middle School and the cafeteria named after Potts.

Potts was a longtime principal at Sudlow Middle School and has served as a school board director since his retirement.

A widening food recall connected to a multistate Salmonella outbreak now covers dips, salsas, guacamole and prepared meals sold by some of America's largest grocery chains. Taylor Fresh Foods announced the voluntary recall on Aug. 9 after learning that jalapeno supplier Coast Citrus Distributors was recalling peppers because of possible Salmonella contamination. The affected jalapenos came from a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, identified as the likely source of an ongoing outbreak.

Rachanda Lea "Chandy" Pickle has been missing since July 10, 1990, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
