LivWell Seniors, CASI help older adults learn what it means to stay active
By Linda Cook,
19 hours agoLivWell Seniors and CASI will help older adults understand what it means to stay active and how to get enough physical activity to experience proven health benefits at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at CASI, 1035 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport.
Staying active can provide significant immediate and long-term health benefits, including improved sleep, reduced anxiety, better bone health, and a lower risk of falls. Regular activity can also reduce the risk of dementia, heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, and some cancers while helping older adults maintain their independence longer.
Attendees will learn:
- What “staying active” means for seniors
- Recommended minimum activity guidelines for older adults
- Everyday activities that count as exercise
- How to start small and gradually increase activity levels
- How CASI’s fitness classes, exercise room and indoor walking track can help you achieve your activity goals.
The session will offer practical, approachable ideas participants can use to move more, and work toward the activity levels that support healthy aging.
The event is free and coffee and snacks will be provided. Register by Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 563-265-1577 or email here.
