U.S. Senate candidate Tracy says Illinois needs to be a two-party state

We're now 65 days and counting until the midterm election is upon us. An open seat for Iowa governor, an open seat for the U.S. Senate in Iowa and an open seat for the U.S. Senate in Illinois are among the biggest races on the ballot. That is the race we focus on this morning. Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton won the Democratic primary, and lawyer Don Tracy earned the Republican nomination in the primary.

A quick check of their campaign finances shows a close race on the money front. Stratton has more than $1.1 million as of June 30. Tracy has more than $1.5 million for that reporting period. There are no recent polls for this race.

Don Tracy enjoyed a pretty comfortable victory in the Illinois primary for the Republican nomination to the U.S. Senate. He's well aware November will be a much tougher test. That's not deterring him. Host Jim Niedelman got into the issues with Don Tracy.

"The cost of living, or affordability, whichever you want to call it, is a big issue here," Tracy said. "That should be our issue here, because everything the Democrats do increases the cost of living."
