Celebrate at Hispanic Heritage Festival in Monmouth

United Way of West Central Illinois and Buchanan Center for the Arts are hosting the fifth Hispanic Heritage Festival on September 19^th from 4 -9 p.m. at the Public Square in Monmouth. The Hispanic Heritage Festival is the largest event of its kind in the region.

There will be entertainment all night, including emcee Marlon Davila Cantante Soloista, Ximena Salinas from the Chicago area, Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico and DJ Keith Patterson, who is originally from Monmouth and is a graduate of Monmouth College.

Vendors will be on hand selling their food/merchandise. While the event is not a United Way fundraiser, it is a way for the entire community to celebrate Hispanic food, music, art and dance performances.

Buchanan Center for the Arts is helping coordinate the event with United Way and has an art exhibit called "Nuestras Historias y Arte Desde el Corazón" on display. This was a judged exhibition of local Hispanic artists and winners will be announced on stage during the festival. A children’s art table and take-home projects are also available.

The Hispanic Heritage Festival is not funded with United Way campaign funds; organizers raise money through grants and sponsorships. Contact Jeannie Weber, United Way executive director, at 309-599-1506 or jeannie@wcunitedway.org for more information.
