The Iowa Investigator will present program in Fulton

The next Miller Program will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Fulton’s Windmill Cultural Center. The facility is at 111 10th Ave. in downtown Fulton, across the street from De Immigrant Windmill. The event is free and open to the public.

JT Vonderhaar is a social media creator from Bettendorf. Known as The Iowa Investigator, he started making videos on social media in 2022 and pivoted his focus to the State of Iowa in 2023. His videos focus primarily on Iowa history, but they sometimes also touch on topics like sports, human interest, food, politics, or anything he finds interesting in his home state.

Over the last several years he has amassed more than 100,000 followers across different platforms, and he enjoys traveling the state to learn new things. Although he is not a “private investigator” nor a trained historian, he believes there are many interesting stories about the State of Iowa that are often overlooked. His work attempts to buck the notion that Iowa and the greater Midwest are boring places that are not worth learning about.

The Volunteer Millers invite the public to attend this program to learn more about how to increase your social media presence as well as how to look at local history with a new eye. The program will be followed by light refreshments. These free monthly programs are made possible through a grant from FACE, Fulton’s community foundation.
