Mississippi Valley Blues Society will present two days of music at Blues Festival

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society will present a lineup of blues artists at the 41st anniversary Blues Festival on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, at LeClaire Park on the Davenport Riverfront.

“We’re excited to return to historic LeClaire Park”, said MVBS President John Resch, “Two music stages, expanded BlueSkool, and additional vendors promise to make this year’s festival a great way to close out the summer season.”

Friday's lineup on the main stage includes headline German blues guitar sensation Stefan Hillesheim at 5 p.m., the Chain Smoking Altar Boys with Westside Andy at 7 p.m., and John Nemeth at 9 p.m.

Saturday’s lineup features the award-winning offspring of three legendary blues artists: Shawn Holt (son of Magic Slim) and the Teardrops will take the stage at 2 p.m.; the Memphis Rhythm Revue will perform at 4 p.m.; Big Bill Morganfield, son of legendary Muddy Waters, will play at 6 p.m.; and Grammy Award winner Shemekia Copeland, daughter of Johnny Copeland, will headline Saturday’s performance on the main stage at 8 p.m.

Advance two-day tickets are $45. A one-day ticket on Friday is $20 and $39 for Saturday. Those younger than 25 will be admitted free with identification.

The Pedigo Jones Stage will feature the Weary Ramblers on Friday and the Soul Searchers on Saturday between shows on the Main Stage.

BlueSkool youth clinics will be provided by Mississippi Valley Blues Society and West Music of Davenport. Workshops Saturday, Sept. 19, will offer the opportunity to listen and learn’ from Dustin Arbuckle at 3 p.m. and from Big Bill Morganfield at 4 p.m., with a BlueSkool Jam in the merchandise/education tent at 5 p.m. You can bring your acoustic instrument.
