Robert Townsend reschedules show in Galesburg

The Orpheum Theatre has announced that the upcoming performance of Robert Townsend’s "Living The Shuffle," originally scheduled for Oct. 3, 2026, has been rescheduled to
Saturday, April 17, 2027, a news release says.
The schedule change comes as Townsend accepts a directing role for a new feature film.
Production on the feature begins in September and is expected to wrap by early February.
Ticketing information
- Flex 4 Package Early Access: Tickets for the rescheduled Saturday, April 17, 2027 show are available exclusively as part of the Orpheum Theatre Presents Flex 4 Package.
- Individual ticket sales: Individual tickets will go on sale to the general public starting Nov. 17, 2026.
- How to Purchase: Tickets can be purchased here or by calling the Orpheum Theatre Box Office at 309-342-2299, Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
About Robert Townsend
Robert Townsend is an acclaimed actor, director, writer, producer, and comedian often regarded as one of the "Godfathers of Independent Cinema." Raised on the West Side of Chicago, he first gained national recognition with his groundbreaking 1987 satirical comedy "Hollywood Shuffle," which he co-wrote, directed, produced, and self-financed.
Over his multi-decade career, Townsend has directed, written, and starred in numerous iconic film and television projects, including "The Five Heartbeats," "The Meteor Man," "Eddie Murphy Raw," and "BAPS,*" and the hit WB sitcom "The Parent 'Hood."
His work across the screen and television industry has earned over 30 NAACP Image Award nominations.
In "Living The Shuffle," Townsend takes the stage in an intimate, 90-minute one-man show that
chronicles his journey from the streets of Chicago to the heights of Hollywood. Blending dramatic autobiography, stand-up, and uncanny impressions, the show offers a hilarious and inspiring look at his trailblazing career.
