Cincinnati man arrested on Knox County child sex abuse, exploitation charges

10 days agoA man from Cincinnati has been arrested after an extensive, multi-jurisdictional criminal investigation into allegations involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of juvenile victims, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation began after the Knox County Sheriff's Office received information about sexual misconduct allegations involving juvenile victims taking place in Knox County. During the investigation, detectives developed evidence through witness interviews, Child Advocacy Center forensic interviews, executing multiple search warrants, forensic examinations of digital evidence, reviews of electronic communications and extensive coordination with law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois and Ohio.
After the investigation, the Circuit Court of Knox County issued an arrest warrant for Trevor L. Jones, 25 of Cincinnati, charging him with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child, the release said. Jones has been taken into custody and is currently being held without pretrial release. He has a preliminary hearing in Knox County Court on September 28, according to court records.
"The safety and protection of children will always remain one of the highest priorities of the Knox County Sheriff's Office,” said Sheriff Jack Harlan Jr. “Allegations involving the abuse or exploitation of children are taken extremely seriously and our investigators are committed to conducting thorough, professional and victim-centered investigations. We will continue to pursue every lead, work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners, and seek justice for victims and their families."
The investigation is active and ongoing as detectives work with partner agencies to investigate additional allegations and identify any additional victims across multiple jurisdictions.
The Knox County State's Attorney's Office, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Gahanna Division of Police, Greenhills Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Child Advocacy Centers in Illinois and Ohio and many local, state, and federal agencies worked with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.
