Shimmering Hope gala raises funds for Argrow’s House

Argrow’s House of Healing and Hope is hosting its 9th annual fundraising gala: Shimmering Hope on Thursday, September 17th at 6 p.m. at J Bar & Holiday Inn & Suites, 4215 Elmore Avenue in Davenport.
Guests can honor women survivors while enjoying live music, food, inspiring stories and updates on the new Argrow’s House Food Truck program, catering, bath & body and Argrow’s formal social enterprise training program, as well as a panel discussion from enterprise graduates. All proceeds from the evening go towards growing Argrow’s House’s social enterprise programming and launching the Hope University therapy initiative. The goal is to raise $150,000 through the event.

Argrow's House is a safe space in the greater Quad Cities region offering free daily services for women healing from violence, including domestic violence support groups, counseling services and more. Argrow's House is also a café, food truck and bath and body business where women healing from abuse create beautiful products that provide a living wage for themselves.

Three Mastiff-mix dogs, Chance, Duncan and Isabel, are ready to trade their wandering days for permanent homes, according to the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts. The shelter recently introduced them with an invitation to adopters: “Meet Chance, Duncan + Isabel… three VERY big reasons to fall in love,” adding that each dog arrived after being found roaming together in Stoughton and is now looking for “a home of their own.”

Alameda’s 90 Day Fiancée, Catie Norboe
Catie Norboe, 26, is Alameda’s own reality TV star. The Alameda native is a pet sitter who is featured on the current season of the hit series 90 Day Fiancé. The show documents experiences of couples who have applied for a K-1 Visa and are required to wed within 90 days. Catie’s fiancé Josh, 30, is from the UK and intends to move to Portland, Oregon to be with her and begin life in the US. Their screen time on the show has included a variety of locations throughout Alameda, including Swell Bar and Whisk Cakes, as they’ve come here to visit Catie’s family and prepare for their wedding.
