Iowa governor orders flags be flown at half-staff in remembrance of 9/11
By Gage Teunissen,
8 days ago(KCAU) — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff on September 11.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost in the attack that day, with eight with connections to Iowa, Reynolds release stated.
“Twenty-five years ago, a targeted attack against America shook the foundation of our country and tested its resiliency,” Governor Reynolds said. “Nearly 3,000 innocent lives—including at least eight Iowans—were tragically lost that day. On this solemn anniversary, we remember and honor them, and reaffirm our resolve to stand together against those who threaten our people and our ideals.”
From sunrise, until sunset, flags are encouraged to be flown at half-staff statewide.
