LeClaire Wine Stampede benefits Humane Society of Scott County

Enjoy wine samples from some of eastern Iowa’s top wineries while raising funds for the Humane Society of Scott County.

The second annual LeClaire Wine Stampede takes place on Saturday, September 26 from 2 – 5 p.m. in downtown LeClaire. Shops along Cody Road will turn into tasting stops where guests can enjoy complimentary samples from Wide River Winery Tasting Room, Olathea Creek Vineyard & Winery, Ardon Creek Winery, Tassel Ridge Winery, 3 Sons Vineyards, Tycoga Winery & Distillery, Lubben Vineyards and Fireside Winery.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Scott County, supporting animals in need. Guests can meet adoptable kittens during their Wine Stampede experience at Skinderallas Wonderland Art Collective, 110 S. Cody Road.

Tickets are $24.80 through September 19. Prices rise to $27.08 between September 20 – 26. Click here for tickets. Ticketholders will check in and pick up their Wine Stampede glass and map at the LeClaire Information Center, 117 S. Cody Road, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 26th.

PAWS New England reports that Sazerac, an 11-week-old male puppy currently in New England, is still waiting for a home after the rest of their litter, and even their mama, were adopted. According to PAWS New England, Sazerac has vision loss in one eye and diminished vision in the other, a condition the rescue says has likely contributed to being overlooked despite otherwise typical puppy behavior.

Yes, Dr. Sarah Axelrath of Colorado Coalition for the Homeless told the Denver City Council Monday. Axelrath, an addiction medicine specialist, said going after drug traffickers doesn’t make people stop using substances. In fact, she said it disrupts “an already potent and unpredictable drug supply.” Demand doesn’t go down after a bust. New players come to market who could be peddling an even more toxic product.

Wisconsin-based Fromm Family Foods is recalling 3,852 cases of Fromm Turkey Pate Wet Dog Food and 1,973 cases of Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pate Wet Dog Food. The company announced the recall on August 21, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration published the alert the same day.
