There is some buzz going around the St. Ambrose campus, and for good reason.

The football team is off to a great start this year. The Fighting Bees are 2-0 for the first time since 2018.

On offense, SAU is scoring 28 points per game. On defense, they force multiple turnovers each game.

Even with the great start, the Fighting Bees are not satisfied.

"Just the mentality of the guys coming to work everyday and that shows up on Saturdays. There is no panic with these guys, guys are coming in everyday to our building, into our offices and wanting to compete and get better," said Vince Fillipp, St. Ambrose football's head coach. "We've seen that, like I said, on our sidelines and on game days both weeks here. It's something we've talked about when we weren't 2-0, like, you can't ever get complacent. You can't stay the same, I've brought that up multiple times with our guys. Again, our goal is to come in every single day and try and be better than we were the day before so it's not just football. If you get complacent, that's not a good place to be. You want to strive to be better every single day."

The Fighting Bees are on a bye week. They return to field on September 19 when they host Baker. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
