Explore Muscatine’s history – one step at a time

The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to enjoy a family‑friendly afternoon at the annual Walk (or Ride) Through History beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Greenwood Cemetery, 1814 Lucas St. This free event welcomes all ages and celebrates Muscatine’s rich past in an upbeat, engaging way, a news release says.
Take a leisurely stroll — or hop on a MuscaBus ride — as knowledgeable tour guides share historically accurate stories about some of Greenwood Cemetery’s most influential residents. These tales are told with warmth, humor, and local charm, making history feel lively, memorable, and wonderfully human.
The tour lasts about an hour and will be held rain or shine, so bring your curiosity and your favorite walking shoes, the release says. MuscaBus will provide transportation to and from the cemetery, stopping at both the entrance and exit. To reserve a ride, contact MuscaBus at 563-263‑8152 at least one day in advance. Walking tours do not require registration.
