(KTLA) -- Authorities were called to the Malibu home of former Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff’s property on Friday night, according to a spokesperson for the former vice president's team.

"Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff's property before the individual reached the home," Eduard Negrón, the spokesperson, said.

Negrón confirmed that neither Harris nor Emhoff were present at the time.

“They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly,” Negrón told NewsNation.

Former Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff bought the home in Malibu within the last year for over $8 million.

In January 2025, two people were detained during curfew hours at their former home on Bundy Drive in Brentwood after reports of a potential burglary; the incident happened during a curfew that was in place due to the Palisades and Eaton fires, which were raging at that time.

The pair were not arrested as there was no evidence found indicating any crime had been committed.
