Is there still time to keep the Bears in Illinois?

The Chicago Bears may be looking at Indiana as its new home, but Arlington Heights is still fighting to keep the team in Illinois.

Arlington Heights remains a primary option for the Chicago Bears stadium project. The Chicago Tribune reports the village has renewed a contract with lobbying firm Mac Strategies Group. The firm is working to advance the Arlington Heights plan at the statehouse in Springfield.

The Bears are currently moving forward with a stadium plan in Hammond, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says Illinois still has an opportunity to make its case. The village's contract with Mac Strategies runs through next August.

Illinois lawmakers return for the fall veto session November 17.
