Man arrested after standoff with police at Bettendorf motel

UPDATE: A Bettendorf man was arrested after a standoff with police at a Bettendorf motel, according to a news release from the Bettendorf Police Department.
About 3:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, dispatchers at the Scott Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman reporting she was injured from an assault at the City Center
Motel, 1138 State St. The woman was able to escape the room and met with Bettendorf police outside.
The man barricaded himself inside a motel room. Bettendorf Police Crisis Negotiators initiated communication with him for several hours. About 6:15 p.m. he surrendered peacefully without incident.
Officers confirmed the woman had suffered injuries, and she was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect faces charges and was taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation.
EARLIER: A heavy police presence was at a Bettendorf motel shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
Our Quad Cities News crew saw about a dozen officers along with seven squad cars in the parking lot of the City Center Motel, 1138 State St. At one point, two officers got out their shields during the incident.
We do not know details about the incident or whether any arrests have been made.
