The drive is open to student affairs offices, school principals, coaches, student governments, clubs, sports teams, classrooms, grade levels, campus organizations and student-led groups. She and administration support specialist Payton Smith are leading this effort, along with three local interns from Knox College, Ciao Oliveria, Diego dos Santos Bronco Mart and Dareann Pettis.</p><p>All food donated through Team Up to Fill Up will be distributed to local pantries in the counties where food was donated. This is due to several factors, including higher food prices, a drastic reduction in government support systems which includes families working full time but still unable to afford basic needs, seniors, those on disability, and children, as well as a lack of transportation.</p><p>United Way of West Central Illinois has supported local organizations in Warren County since 1972. "We're actually executing, it's not just about winning games. It's about winning them the right way with good technique, and not just trying to scrape by."</p><p>"Execution. It starts with Monday, ya know, going through film of the previous game and game plan," said Abram Krier, a Riverdale senior. "I think we've done a great job through offensive line, running backs, tight ends and everything. Just execution through practice and results on Friday show up."</p><p>"The ability for them to be locked in, ya know, each and every week, and stay focused on the things they need to stay focused on and get better. It's been exciting to be a part of it and enjoy this ride, but their goals they've really taken ownership over their goals and stayed focused day in and day out, week in and week out to kind of get us to this point," Dierikx said.</p><p>This Riverdale program, especially the seniors, hasn't forgotten where the program was just three years ago.</p><p>"Ya know, 0-9 my freshman year. Ya know, walking around the halls, ya know, maybe you hear comments or things that you're not proud of, and now everyone wants to be a part of it," Krier said. "That's something that I'm proud to be a part of the team, ya know, when I hear people want to come out, or they are proud of the football team."</p><p>"{2023} was coming off not having a varsity team, and we were just happy to have one, and just have something to put on the field -whether it was great or not - because having no team is the worst," Bennett said. "It's been a lot of changes, and we just had to stick to old rules for what works best for people who don't know what they are doing. It's just nice to get to a place where we are actually a good team, learning and playing football better than the average level."</p><p>The Rams aren't satisfied with being undefeated in mid-September.</p><p>"They challenge each other to get better, and it doesn't matter between linemen and skills," Dierikx said. "Iron sharpens iron, and we've really focused a lot on that to get the kids to compete with each other to make each other better."</p><p>The next challenge for Riverdale is taking on undefeated Rockridge in a Three Rivers showdown on Friday night in Port Byron.</p><p>"This is where we expected to be, ya know. While the Volt system is new to the organization, Trinity Heart Center has been performing pulsed field ablation procedures since April 2024, when it became the first in the Quad Cities to offer the treatment.</p><p>Pulsed field ablation uses high-energy electrical pulses to ablate the heart tissue causing irregular heart rhythms without using excess heat or cold, which has the potential to damage<br>surrounding tissue. The move bumps the company's average hourly wage to almost $24 an hour. </p><p>"We also have an annual step plan where pay increases the first three years someone is with us, providing a clear path for how their pay can grow over time," Udit Madan, the senior vice president for Amazon's worldwide operations, wrote in <a href="https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/workplace/amazon-raises-minimum-starting-pay-adds-grocery-banking-benefits" rel="nofollow">a blog post</a>. </p><p>Amazon also announced Wednesday that, starting Oct. 1, its U.S. employees can get 10% off groceries they order online through Amazon and Whole Foods, and 20% when shopping in-store at Whole Foods. </p><p>There are some stipulations. The <a href="https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/workplace/amazon-us-employee-grocery-discount" rel="nofollow">company notes</a> that, through its website, the 10% discount applies to "eligible fresh groceries, pantry staples, and everyday essentials sold and shipped by Amazon." Through the Whole Foods website, the 10% discount is for "eligible items ordered for delivery, including catering." Within the store itself, the 20% discount applies to everything except gift cards and alcohol. </p><p>Employees are able to stack their discount with other deals, like coupons and Subscribe &amp; Save.</p><p>The company on Wednesday also announced a new banking benefit, offering workers "a membership in First Tech Federal Credit Union that provides qualified employees and their families banking services they can keep for life."</p><p>Amazon ranks highly among other retail giants in terms of starting pay. Walmart's average hourly wage <a href="https://corporate.walmart.com/askwalmart/how-much-do-walmart-associates-make" rel="nofollow">is $18.50</a> for a "frontline associate," while a supply chain associate averages $27.50 an hour. A frontline team member at <a href="https://corporate.target.com/press/fact-sheet/2025/12/target-pay-and-benefits" rel="nofollow">Target</a> also averages $18.50 an hour, though the retailer notes its starting pay ranges from $15 to $24 an hour, "depending on the role and location."</p><p>A year ago, Amazon <a href="https://www.kget.com/national-news/amazon-raising-wages-lowering-health-care-costs-for-us-workers/" rel="nofollow">rolled out a similar wage hike</a> and lowered the cost of health care plans for its U.S. fulfillment and transportation workers. </p><p>It came months after several Amazon facilities <a href="https://apnews.com/video/amazon-com-inc-new-york-queens-new-york-city-labor-c88e88d9e91f4a89821499355204265c" rel="nofollow">went on strike</a>, an effort by the Teamsters union to pressure the e-commerce company <a href="https://apnews.com/article/amazon-teamsters-delivery-union-ups-0b9a9e2fc06dbb18cb23c476e0c19230" rel="nofollow">for a labor agreement</a> during a key shopping period on December. </p><p>That same month, Amazon reached a settlement with the <a href="https://www.osha.gov/news/newsreleases/osha-national-news-release/20241219" rel="nofollow">Occupational Safety and Health Administration</a> that requires the online behemoth to adopt corporate-wide ergonomic measures at facilities across the country. The toys that did not make it in included Catan, Connect Four, Cornhole, Furby, Scooter, Snow, Spirograph, a Star Wars Lightsaber, and Tickle Me Elmo.</p><p>The very first toys were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998.
