Donate, ‘shop’ for free art supplies at Rock Island Public Library

The Rock Island Public Library will accept gently used or new art and craft items at all library locations now through Sept. 24, a news release says.

Donated supplies will be available for free at the library’s 2^nd Annual Studio Exchange Community Art Supply Swap on Saturday, Sept. 26. The free event runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19^th St.

If you miss the advance drop off, you can bring art supplies to the event, but donations are not required. The event is free and open to the public. No swap is required to shop the free art supply giveaway. Everything needs to go to a new home, so drop by to choose free items.

While you're at art supply giveaway, remember to stamp your Quad City Library Crawl passport, or pick one up and get started. Each stamp equals an entry, with 12 local libraries represented on the crawl, running through Oct. 31. With it being National Library Card Sign Up Month, it’s also an ideal time to check to make sure your Rock Island Library card is still current, and enter the library’s prize drawing.
