Iowa HHS announces 82nd Safe Haven baby

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Health & Human Services says that a baby girl who was born earlier this month is now in its custody thanks to the Safe Haven Act.
HHS released the information on Tuesday that the child was born on September 8. The infant girl will be placed with a foster family until receiving a permanent placement.
Iowa’s Safe Haven Act gives parents legal option after giving birthSince the Safe Haven Act went into effect in 2002, HHS says there have been 82 Safe Haven babies.
The law allows parents to give up a baby up to 90 days old without facing criminal consequences. The child can be surrendered at many designated safe haven locations, such as hospitals and police and fire stations. A foster family will care for the baby until they are adopted.

Missing since 2023 from Redmond, Washington: Noah and Oliver Richard have had little media focus
Noah Henry Richard has been missing from Redmond, Washington, since December 14, 2023, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Noah, pictured above, was two when he went missing, but he would now be five years old. His brother, Oliver Richard (pictured below), was only seven months old when he also went missing on the same date. Oliver would now be three.

Three Gentle Giants Found Wandering Together: Now They Just Need Someone to Choose Them
Three Mastiff-mix dogs, Chance, Duncan and Isabel, are ready to trade their wandering days for permanent homes, according to the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts. The shelter recently introduced them with an invitation to adopters: “Meet Chance, Duncan + Isabel… three VERY big reasons to fall in love,” adding that each dog arrived after being found roaming together in Stoughton and is now looking for “a home of their own.”
