From Iowa superstar to signature shoe: Caitlin Clark’s Nike Caitlin 1

DES MOINES, Iowa — Caitlin Clark fans have been waiting more than two years for this one.
The former Iowa Hawkeye star's first signature basketball shoe, theNike Caitlin 1, goes on sale globally Thursday, Oct. 1. Nike officially unveiled the shoe and its accompanying apparel collection this month.
Here’s what you need to know if you want a pair.
How much does the Caitlin 1 cost?
The adult version of the Caitlin 1 will retail for $140 in the United States. Nike currently lists the “Caitlin Blue” version for $140, with big kids’ shoes priced at $100 and little kids’ shoes at $90.
Two primary colorways are expected at launch: “Caitlin Blue” and the bright yellow “Warning Code.” More colors are expected to follow.

Where can you buy it?
Nike says the Caitlin 1 will be available through Nike.com, the Nike App and select Nike Basketball retailers beginning Oct. 1.
Sneaker release listings also identify major retailers including Foot Locker, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Hibbett as places expected to carry the shoe.
Will Caitlin Clark’s shoe sell out?
That’s the big question, and there is no guarantee.
Demand is expected to be high, particularly for the first colorways. Sneaker industry publications expect at least some early versions and sizes to sell quickly. But Nike has not said the Caitlin 1 is a limited-edition release, and the company has already planned additional colors extending into 2027.
For fans who want the best chance at getting a pair at the $140 retail price, buying at launch rather than waiting would appear to provide the most options.

More than two years in the making
Clark’s signature shoe traces back to the end of her senior season at Iowa.
Clark has said the process began while she was deciding which shoe company to sign with before entering the WNBA. Nike, Adidas and Under Armour all offered her signature-shoe deals. She ultimately stayed with Nike, signing an eight-year, $28 million agreement in 2024.

Nike says Clark was heavily involved in its development, challenging designers to build a shoe that could help produce a quicker first step, faster step-back and quicker shot release.
The Caitlin 1 includes a new Nike Opticast upper, Air Zoom Turbo cushioning and a Cushlon foam midsole. Personal touches include Clark’s “CC” logo, repeated No. 22 designs and messages on the outsole including “Shoot More Threes” and “From Anywhere.”
“A lot of thought and time has gone into this shoe,” Clark said in Nike’s announcement. “I never thought I would have my own signature shoe, and now that I do, it’s pretty special.”
The Caitlin 1 and Clark’s 18-piece signature apparel collection go on sale globally Oct. 1.
