Davenport man arrested after gunfire near Roger Craig Stadium
By Sharon Wren,
2 days agoAn 18-year-old man from Davenport is being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond after he was arrested in connection with a large police presence near Roger Craig Stadium.
Criminal complaints filed in Scott County Court said Davenport Police responded to the Shell Gas Station at 3622 Brady Street on Oct. 1 at about 7 p.m. for a weapons call. The defendant, identified as Jeramiah Rivera, 18, was armed with a firearm and discharged the firearm five times into a vehicle occupied by four people, according to police.
Rivera did intend to provoke fear and to injure the four victims who were in the vehicle, according to the complaint. Rivera is accused of damaging the victim's vehicle by striking the driver's side of the vehicle five times. In a post-Miranda interview, Rivera admitted to discharging the firearm at the victims and pointed out to officers where the shooting occurred.
An email from the Davenport Police Department said no one was injured in the incident and officers located casings at the scene.
Rivera was arrested and charged with:
- Four counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon
- 1 count of going armed with intent
- 1 count of person ineligible to carry a weapon
- 1 count of possession of a controlled substance
- 1 count of reckless use of a firearm
He is being held in the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond and has a preliminary hearing on Oct. 9.
