Illinois provides safe haven for wild mustangs from out West

21 hours agoSeven new wild mustangs have found a safe haven in Alhambra, Illinois after being rounded up in Nevada.
Photographer Wade Smith went to the mustang sanctuary to rescue and find new homes for these incredible animals.
A peaceful stretch of countryside providing a safe haven for wild mustangs removed from public lands in the West. Age and abilities don't matter - these horses will be given a second chance at life.
The seven new horses from Nevada add to the 34 already at the sanctuary, which was founded in 2008 after a couple became concerned about the future of America's wild mustangs.
The Bureau of Land Management regularly rounds up the horses from western ranges.

Three Mastiff-mix dogs, Chance, Duncan and Isabel, are ready to trade their wandering days for permanent homes, according to the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts. The shelter recently introduced them with an invitation to adopters: “Meet Chance, Duncan + Isabel… three VERY big reasons to fall in love,” adding that each dog arrived after being found roaming together in Stoughton and is now looking for “a home of their own.”

US Coast Guard Intercepts 200+ Migrants at Sea
The US Coast Guard has intercepted or repatriated more than 200 migrants involved in more than half a dozen cartel smuggling attempts this month off both US coasts. The latest smuggling run they interrupted occurred on September 13, 2026 21 miles west of San Diego.
