Retired Deere employee still comes to work as tour guide at Iowa facility
By Linda Cook,
1 days agoThere's more to the story of John Deere ... and a longtime employee at the plant in Ankeny, Iowa, is there to share it with visitors. Roger Riley has the story of Gary Eubank, the retired tour guide who spent nearly 50 years working for Deere.
Eubank loves to talk about the process of making farm equipment, including robots that work to bend steel into shape. Eubank started working at this Deere plant in Ankeny in 1959.
"There's a cab - the same cab as a tractor cab," he explains on a tour. Eubank retired 18 years ago but still comes to work as a tour guide for plant visitors.
Eubank, 86, held a number of different jobs. John Sheldahl, also a Deere retiree, helps with the tours.

Deere operates 60 facilities in 20 states, employing around 30,000 people.
