By Sharon Wren,
4 hours agoChanges are coming to River Drive in Davenport as a long-time landmark will soon be demolished.
A post on Davenport Alderman John Blunk’s Facebook page says the former Wonder Bread factory at 1034 E. River Drive in Davenport will be demolished.
The post said the building’s owner has hired DeCarlo Demolition from Des Moines to perform the demolition. Fencing has been placed around the building and crews will start mobilization and abatement this week, which is expected to take up to three weeks. The factory dates back to 1929. Production ended at the facility in 2005 and the building has been vacant for several years.
Rich Oswald, Director of Development and Neighborhood Services said demolition will begin once mobilization and abatement work is complete.
