The parade will start at Grace Avenue (Rock Falls High School, 101 12th Avenue), proceed to West 2nd Street, continue to 2nd Avenue, head to 1st Street and finish at the parking lot on the corner of 1st Street and 4th Avenue so spectators can see the parade entries. There’s still time to join the parade with a golf cart or UTV. Participants should choose a theme, dress up and decorate their vehicles. Advance registration is required; no walk-up entries will be accepted. The deadline to register is Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Rock Falls Tourism Office, 603 W. 10th Street. The entry fee is $10 for golf carts/UTVs already registered with the city and $20 for a one-day permit for golf carts/UTVs not registered with the City of Rock Falls. Click here for registration forms.
Only golf carts and UTVs will be allowed in the parade. Trailer parking is available in the back parking lot of Rock Falls High School starting at 5 p.m. Only registered parade entrants will be allowed in the back parking lot. Lineup will be in the back parking lot of Rock Falls High School and the parade step-off will begin at 6:30 p.m.
The number of participants per entry may not exceed the recommended capacity of the golf cart or UTV. Each entry must be at least 50% decorated and decorations must be Halloween-themed, family-friendly, and in good taste. Candy may be thrown, but participants are asked to use caution to ensure everyone's safety. All vehicles and trailers must be removed from the Rock Falls High School parking lot by 10 p.m. Failure to comply with these rules may result in immediate removal from the event.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
