New wellness center in Rock Island serves union members
By Linda Cook,
11 hours agoPremise Health, the largest direct healthcare company serving unions and large employers, in partnership with the National Coalition of Labor (NCL), Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council (MACRC), International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150 and the Midwest Operating Engineers Fringe Benefit Funds (MOE), and Teamsters Local 301 Health and Welfare Fund, has opened the MCL Health Center — Rock Island, a new near-site wellness center in Rock Island, a news release says
The center began serving members Sept. 15, and Premise, NCL, and its partner organizations celebrated the milestone with a grand opening event on Oct. 3. The MCL Health Center – Rock Island marks a continued investment for union members in convenient, no-cost healthcare access for members and their families across the Midwest. At 7752 38th St. W., Rock Island, the center provides primary care, behavioral health, chiropractic care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and provider dispensing to more than 2,700 members and their families.
According to a health policy report from the Milbank Memorial Fund, adults with a regular source of primary care are significantly more likely to receive the preventive screenings that catch chronic disease early. Premise's onsite services allow Rock Island members and their families to build an ongoing relationship with a care team, helping them stay ahead of health concerns before they become bigger, costlier problems.
“As we open our newest facility in Rock Island, we do so knowing our health centers are the foundation of our Building Better Health mission, providing members and their families with access to the highest-quality health care available,” said Thomas Bernstein, administrative manager, MOE.
Members will receive care from a collaborative, onsite team that includes a primary care provider, behavioral health clinician, and licensed chiropractic and physical therapy providers, delivering personalized treatment plans and ongoing support for members and their families.
“At the Mid-America Regional Council of Carpenters, the health and well-being of our members and their families remain at the heart of everything we do,” said Kris Guastaferri, executive director, MACRC. “This partnership reflects a shared vision ensuring that our members have convenient access to high-quality, compassionate care close to home. By offering comprehensive medical services, physical therapy, chiropractic care, and behavioral health support at no cost, we are investing in healthier lives, stronger families, and a stronger workforce.”
Members of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150 and Teamsters Local 301 H&W Fund will also have access to the new health center's full range of services.
“Every health center we open with NCL and its partner organizations reflects a shared commitment to making quality care accessible and affordable for the people who keep our communities running,” said Stu Clark, chief executive officer, Premise. “It is a privilege to celebrate this milestone with the Rock Island community and with the members of the NCL, and I'm excited to see how this center will help members and their families receive accessible, high-quality care that they so deserve.”
The MCL Health Center – Rock Island is the latest addition to NCL's growing network of Premise-operated wellness centers across the Midwest, which also includes locations in Northbrook, Grayslake, Elgin, Joliet, and Utica, Illinois. Premise also partners with MACRC on health centers in Kansas City, Missouri and Lisle, Illinois, and with MOE on health centers in Countryside, Illinois and Merrillville, Indiana, further extending convenient, high-quality care to union members and their families throughout the region.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
