Major rebuild underway at I-74 and John Deere Road Interchange, Moline
By Linda Cook,
18 hours agoA major rebuild is underway at the I-74 and John Deere Road interchange in Moline. On Friday, the Illinois DOT, along with some elected officials, marked a major milestone in that construction with a groundbreaking.
The first phase continues. That includes shoulder and drainage work, new lighting and traffic system updates. That work is expected to wrap up by the end of November.
Next year will be the big transformation: Turning the interchange into a diverging diamond. The DOT explained how the new design could help reduce crashes.
"There’s a tremendous amount of planning, coordination and partnership that brought this project together," said Michael Kuehn, of the IDOT.
“We in Moline are very excited to have the support of the State of Illinois for these upgrades to the I-74 John Deere Road Interchange,” said Moline Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
