Muscatine Booster Club makes changes to its leadership roles

The Muscatine Booster Club is about to make some big changes to its leadership roles.

The club helps the school operate concessions and fundraising for student athletes. Its president says a lack of volunteers has made it hard to operate independently, so the school district will be taking over concessions and other financial responsibilities.

The operation will still rely mostly on volunteers, with a new part-time paid manager and coordinator.

The group hopes to find some volunteers who can commit their time, but say the demand - and maybe even the economy - plays into the situation where families are needed to either pick up a second job or find ways to compensate for, say, higher gas prices.

Booster Club President Jennifer Wade will remain involved in the concession operations and the annual cake fundraiser.
