‘No Kings’ rally at Davenport park encourages voter turnout
By Linda CookHami Arain,
9 hours agoAnother no kings protest, this one geared toward making sure people cast their ballots across the Quad Cities area, was held Saturday at Vander Veer Park, Davenport.
Hundreds of people across the community lined up Saturday afternoon at Vander Veer Park. Indivisible QC has led many of these "No Kings" protests across the Quad Cities.
The nonprofit group hosted a march when the polls opened Wednesday in Iowa. The march continued at Vander Veer after hundreds of people lined up with their signs along Brady Street and Harrison Street.
Many expressed frustration about the high cost of living. One group wants to see changes to the entire voting system.
This was part of the national "No Kings" rallies aimed at getting people to vote early. More than 3,000 of these gatherings were held across the country on Saturday.

The One Crispy Apple I'm Choosing Over Honeycrisp Right Now
Learn about an apple variety that is super crisp and firm that I am getting at apple orchards over Honeycrisp this month. It took a long time from when the Crimson Crisp apple was first bred until it was available to be grown commercially. It was first developed in the 1970s by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, and Illnois) co-operative. It wasn't until 2006 that the apple was released for growers. That is a long time in the development process. You don't get rich quick by developing a new apple variety!
