Supreme Court permits Trump administration to list sex at birth on U.S. passports

The Supreme Court of the United States has granted the Donald Trump administration permission to enforce a policy that requires U.S. passports to reflect the applicant’s sex assigned at birth, rather than allowing gender-identity changes or an “X” marker.

In a brief unsigned order, the Court held that showing birth sex “no more offends equal-protection principles than displaying one’s country of birth.”
