A new analysis claims the classic gin and tonic might actually be one of the least damaging ways to drink. 🍋
Compared to calorie-heavy beers or sugary cocktails, gin’s lower congener levels and tonic’s lighter sweetness make it a simpler, cleaner mix. The bitterness even slows how quickly people drink, reducing the urge to overdo it.

Still, doctors remind us that no alcohol is truly healthy, even moderate drinking raises long-term health risks. So if you’re reaching for something “light,” this might be it, but the best choice for your body is always moderation.

Be honest, is a gin and tonic your go-to, or are you team zero-proof? 💭

Getting older changes more than just humans, animals age in their own ways too. 🦴🐾

Research shows that as pets and wildlife grow older, they can become less playful, more easily irritated, or less open to interaction. Experts believe this comes from hormonal shifts, slower body function, and gradual brain changes that mirror human aging.

It’s a reminder that patience and compassion go a long way, no matter the species. Do you think animals feel aging the same way we do? ❤️

Animals age uniquely, showing less playfulness and more irritability, similar to humans. 🐾❤️

An Australian beach brand named “Swim Shady” is facing a lawsuit from Eminem, who says the name copies and profits from his trademarked persona, Slim Shady. The brand has leaned heavily into the pun, and now the rapper is arguing it’s too close for comfort.

Should the brand be allowed to keep the name?

Eminem sues Australian brand "Swim Shady" for allegedly infringing on his "Slim Shady" trademark.

In central Istanbul, an invention is quietly reshaping how people care for stray animals.

It looks like a normal vending machine, but instead of selling anything, it rewards recycling with food and water for the city’s stray dogs.
Here’s how it works.

You drop in a recyclable can or bottle, the sensor checks it, and if it’s valid, the machine releases a serving of dog food into a small bowl at the bottom.
If you have leftover water, you pour it into a separate opening and it fills a water dish right beside it.

One tiny action from a passerby can make the difference between hunger and nourishment for a dog living on the streets.

The inventor, Engin Girgin, created this with a simple intention.
To remind people that compassion doesn’t need to be expensive.
That even something we normally toss away can be turned into a moment of care for an animal who truly needs it.
And people are responding.

Despite mixed opinions on stray dogs in Turkey, the machines have been surprisingly well-loved, proving how many people truly want to help when given the chance.

If a machine like this existed near you, would you stop and feed a stray dog through your recycling?

In Istanbul, a vending machine recycles bottles to dispense food and water for stray dogs.

A 19-year-old college student in Albuquerque stumbled across $135,000 in cash outside a Wells Fargo ATM, then handed it straight over to police.

The bag had been misplaced by a bank worker during a cash delivery. His honesty earned him a scholarship, gift cards, and praise from local officials.
Be honest, what would you have done? 😅

A student found $135K by an ATM, returned it, and was rewarded with a scholarship and praise.

The final chapter of John Adams and Thomas Jefferson’s lives is almost poetic.

After decades of political conflict and personal tension, the two former rivals eventually rebuilt a deep friendship through letters that explored their visions for the country and the legacy of their revolution.

Then history delivered an unbelievable moment. On July 4, 1826, exactly 50 years after the Declaration of Independence was approved, Jefferson died at Monticello. Only a few hours later, Adams passed away in Quincy. His final words were, “Thomas Jefferson survives,” not knowing his friend had already died earlier that afternoon.

Do you think this was pure chance, or something strangely meaningful?

Adams and Jefferson, once rivals, died hours apart on July 4, 1826, after rekindling their friendship.

This might surprise you, but the idea that salt helps your water boil faster is a total kitchen myth.

When you add salt, the boiling point goes up, so your pot actually takes more time to get to that rolling boil. The benefit isn’t quicker cooking, it’s better seasoning. Salted water makes your food taste richer and more balanced, even if it doesn’t save you time.

Have you ever believed this myth or did you always know the truth?

Adding salt to water raises the boiling point, enhancing flavor, not speeding up boiling.

The alcohol industry is going through one of the biggest declines in recent history.

Bloomberg reports that the combined value of the world’s top alcohol companies has fallen by 830 billion dollars in just a few years.

This drop isn’t random.
More people are choosing alternatives because they feel better, recover faster, and align more with their long term health goals.

Younger generations are drinking less than their parents and grandparents.
People are becoming more conscious of how alcohol affects sleep, mood, energy, and overall wellness.

At the same time, cannabis is becoming more normalized, more accessible, and for many, a gentler way to relax.
THC drinks, edibles, and low dose products are replacing nights out drinking for an increasing number of people.

Even major alcohol brands are trying to adapt by investing in non alcoholic drinks and exploring cannabis infused products.
It’s a cultural shift that is changing the way people unwind.

Do you think we’re entering a new era where alcohol is no longer the default choice?

The alcohol industry faces decline as people opt for healthier alternatives and cannabis products.

Raccoons are becoming even more like the “trash pandas” we love.

New research shows that urban raccoons have developed slightly shorter snouts since 2000, a subtle but clear sign of domestication traits.

Living near humans means access to food, shelter, and constant interaction.
Over generations, that can actually reshape how an animal looks and behaves.
It’s the same pattern seen in animals we’ve domesticated throughout history… except raccoons are doing it all on their own.

All it took was enough free food and overflowing garbage bins for them to start evolving more pet-like features.

Do you think raccoons could eventually become fully domesticated?

Urban raccoons are evolving shorter snouts, showing signs of self-domestication.

This German invention is changing what portable shelter can look like.

A startup designed a compact backpack that transforms into a fully insulated emergency bed, created specifically to support people without stable housing.
It protects against freezing temperatures, rain, and rough conditions.
It folds out easily and gives someone a warm, safe place to sleep for the night.
And it’s built with dignity in mind.

The backpack includes a solar panel that charges phones and powers a small LED light.
For anyone experiencing homelessness, that little bit of power can mean calling for help, finding resources, or simply feeling safer in the dark.
Made with durable, sustainable materials, this backpack isn’t just gear.
It’s a lifeline. It’s hope. It’s a reminder that innovation can be compassionate and practical at the same time.

Do you think solutions like this could make a real difference for people living on the streets?

During a Fox News segment with Brett Baier, a lifelong Republican voter from Greensboro, North Carolina, urged Trump to address soaring grocery prices, saying, “I want the Republicans to keep control of Congress… but something has to be done fast!” Trump acknowledged the concern, calling beef “an old-fashioned word, but it’s a beautiful word,” and promising, “we have prices way down,” as the clip went viral online.

Donald Trump became the first sitting president in nearly a half-century at a regular-season NFL game, attending the Washington Commanders' 44-22 loss to the visiting Detroit Lions on Sunday.

There were loud boos from some spectators in the stands when Trump was shown on the videoboard late in the first half — standing in a suite with House Speaker Mike Johnson — and again when the president was introduced by the stadium announcer at halftime.

The jeering continued while Trump read an oath for members of the military to recite as part of an on-field enlistment ceremony during the break in the game.

"I’m a little bit late,” Trump told reporters earlier when he got off Air Force One after landing at Joint Base Andrews, following a flyover of Northwest Stadium during the game. He then got in his armored car for the drive to the arena.

“We’re gonna have a good game. Things are going along very well. The country’s doing well. The Democrats have to open it up,” he said — a reference to the government shutdown.

In the first quarter Sunday, before the president arrived, Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown celebrated a touchdown catch by pointing into the stands and moving his arms a la the “ Trump dance ” that several athletes began doing last year.

“I heard Trump was going to be at the game," St. Brown said afterward. "I don't know how many times the president's going to be at the game, so just decided to have some fun.”

Lions coach Dan Campbell said he was too consumed by the game itself to notice that Trump had arrived, "But that's cool. ... You're talking about the president of the United States. That's a big deal.”

His team's quarterback, Jared Goff, was intrigued with seeing Trump's plane fly so low over the stadium.

“Awesome that he was here,” Goff said.

Food pantries across Ohio are seeing record demand as the federal government shutdown disrupts food assistance programs. Near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, the Fairborn Fish Food Pantry has doubled its weekly caseload, serving up to 500 families. In Columbus, the NNEMAP Food Pantry reported its busiest day on record, feeding nearly 285 people in one day.

The surge comes as millions of residents face delays in November’s SNAP benefits and other federal aid programs. With funding halted, many food banks are struggling to keep shelves stocked, even as donations rise. Local organizations warn that without restored federal support, the crisis could deepen in the coming weeks.

Partial skeletal remains discovered on a beach in Ventura County in 1984 have been identified as a 33-year-old man who, along with another man, died at sea in 1978, officials announced.

In May 1984, deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to Silver Strand Beach in Oxnard on reports of human skeletal remains, the department said in a news release.

The remains, which consisted of a jawbone with teeth, were determined by the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office to belong to an adult male between the ages of 19 and 99.

It wasn’t until 2006 that a DNA profile on the jawbone was entered into the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System (CODIS).

“Despite this lengthy journey, the man could not be identified and became known as Ventura County John Doe (1984),” authorities said. “Details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.”

Some 19 years later, the county medical examiner’s office provided the sheriff’s department with forensic evidence to submit to a DNA laboratory in Texas, which was able to use advanced DNA testing and develop a comprehensive profile

“This investigation led to the positive identification of the man, who is now known to be Donald Scott Reich, born Dec. 16, 1944,” officials said. “Reich drowned in a boating accident in January 1978, and his body (missing a jawbone) was recovered after being found along the rocks of a jetty about a month later.”

Reich was a professional organist who had recently married and moved to Ventura County, where he worked at the Wagon Wheel Junction, an entertainment complex in Oxnard that included a roller rink and a restaurant.

The 33-year-old, according to the release, owned a boat in need of repair. While at work, he met a mechanic, 20-year-old Michael Gray, who offered to help him fix the boat.

Both men were last seen at the harbor at around 10 p.m. on a Sunday night, with investigators believing the pair took the boat out to test the engine and either ran out of gas or endured an engine malfunction.

They were reported missing that same night, prompting an air and sea search that lasted through the night.

The following day, wreckage of the boat was found strewn across more than a mile of coastline at Mandalay Beach.

“Investigators believe the boat lost power, drifted and got caught in the surf and was ripped apart by the sea and shore,” the release noted.

Gray’s body was spotted by a helicopter floating approximately four miles offshore, and while most of Reich’s body was found a month later, his jawbone and teeth wouldn’t be found for another six years, resulting in a now-solved 41-year investigation.
