Hon. Cindy Wu elected to new duties

The California State Association of Parliamentarians (CSAP) has elected Hon. Cindy Wu as its new Southern Area Director, and Secretary of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) District 8, entrusting her with leadership of the Southern Area and its mission to advance parliamentary education, effective governance, and leadership development throughout Southern California.

In this role, Wu will work closely with local units, state leaders, and members to promote parliamentary excellence and strengthen organizations through education, mentorship, and collaboration. The first Southern Area meeting under her leadership will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026, in Irvine, California, in a hybrid in-person and Zoom format. The educational program will feature Gail E. Lover, PRP, NAP Mentor and President Emeritus of CSAP, presenting “Let’s Talk Motions.” The meeting is open to members and visitors interested in improving meeting effectiveness through parliamentary procedure.

District 8 encompasses Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, the Chartered Association of China, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the Uncharted Regions of Asia, making it one of the most geographically diverse districts within NAP. As District Secretary, Wu will support the District Director while helping strengthen communication, collaboration, and leadership across multiple states and international associations.

“Leadership is about serving others, building relationships, and empowering people to succeed,” said Wu. “Whether in parliamentary organizations, nonprofit boards, schools, or civic service, I believe that when we work together with integrity and purpose, we create stronger organizations and stronger communities.”

In addition to her parliamentary leadership, she currently serves as Chair of the Monrovia YMCA Board of Managers; Charter President of the Rotary Club of Greater El Monte (G.E.M.); a member of the Los Angeles County Assessor Advisory Board, appointed by LA County Assessor Jeffrey Prang; a member of the California Secretary of State’s Language Accessibility Advisory Committee, appointed by California Secretary of State Shirley Weber; an elected Trustee of the Mountain View School District Board of Education; and Founder of AAPI Women In Politics/EmpowHer (AWPE). She has also founded and led several community initiatives promoting civic engagement, leadership development, and public service.

The National Association of Parliamentarians is dedicated to promoting the principles of parliamentary procedure and democratic governance. Through education and professional development, NAP equips leaders with the knowledge and skills to conduct effective meetings, make sound decisions, and build stronger organizations.
